Laundry Detergent..easy as 1, 2, 3...
Ingredients for laundry detergent
Now a year ago, I never would have believed that today I would be writing a blurb on my blog about making my own laundry detergent. Who would have thought it was so easy to make? But it really is - I find that most of the "Homemade" things I make only have 3 ingredients - and this laundry detergents is no different. Are you ready for it? Ok Ivory soap....Arm & Hammer Washing soda...and Borax. That is it! I have used it now for over a month and I may be biased but my clothes seem cleaner and definitely smell like the old laundry detergents used to smell. All you need to do is measure 1 cup of Washing Soda (this is found in any laundry soap isle at the supermarket), 1 cup Borax (also found in laundry soap isle) and 1 bar of ivory soap that you grate using a cheese grater. Mix it all together in a recycled container (I used a large yogurt container with a lid) and that is it. I even found an old scoop from an Ice Tea mix to use as a scoop for measuring it out! For pennies now I have a green laundry detergent that isn't harmful to my family or the Earth!
Orange Vinegar All-purpose Cleaner
This is a recipe I got from a posting on facebook. It is simple and only requires the use of a recycled glass jar, some orange peels and white vinegar. That is it. We eat a lot of oranges in our house so collecting enough for 3 jars did not take long. Once you have some peels you place them in the jar and fill the jar 1/2 way with white vinegar. Once the jar is filled to capacity with orange peels, fill the rest of the jar with more vinegar and let it sit for 2 weeks. I put my jars under the kitchen sink. When the 2 weeks are up, measure a 1 to 1 ratio of orange liquid to water and put it into a spray bottle. You have an all-purpose cleaner that will even do windows! Best part - it really doesn't smell of vinegar after the two weeks and works great in my house! For more details on it please follow this link to the original site: Orange Cleaner
